“Green economy is the basis for sustainable development” – under this motto the Green Economy Forum Green "Assisting the Transition towards Green Economic Development in Kyrgyzstan" will take place in Bishkek on November 30, 2016 from 9:30 to 17:30 at the Evropa Hotel. The Green Forum 2016 is a follow up of one of the green initiatives realized in Kyrgyzstan and aimed at supporting the Government in further economic development. This factor plays one of the key roles during the observed global climate change and environmental problems, when all countries have to review their national development programs towards rational and efficient use of natural resources, and Kyrgyzstan is not left aside.
The event will gather famous experts, businessmen, politicians, governmental, non-governmental and international organizations who admit the importance of transition towards the green economy. The participants will have an opportunity to work within discussion groups and to develop specific recommendations on green economy promotion in energy sector, environmental management and infrastructure.
Leading international and national experts from Kyrgyzstan will share their vision on the current situation and future sector-to-sector development of the green economy. The participants will be able to share information on major existing initiatives that support the creation of a country-level concept of green economy development. They will also discuss the existing challenges and problems, legislation and taxation system.

The Forum organizers - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Consortia with Unison Group, Ministry of Economy and the Chamber of Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic – are sure that, provided with the right policy and strategies, the transition towards the green economy will be beneficial from the point of social and environmental sectors. The length and difficulty of such transition depends on its proper planning. One of the key elements is development of new skills of young people on all levels of education.
It is expected that a resolution and an action plan will be adopted by the end of the Forum and will later be presented to the public.
These strategic documents can become a handbook for ministries and other governmental institutions. They will include all supporting factors contributing to promotion of green economy; stipulate measures on legal aspects, financial instruments and improvement of access to investments.
